Mount Tecumseh

Date of Hike: 5/23/09

Mount Tecumseh Trail: 2.5 miles
Sosman Trail: .8 miles
Ski slopes back to base lodge: 1.8 miles
Total Miles: 5.1 (2,300 elevation gain)

Trip Report:
- Solo hike, left RI at 5am, on trail at 7:30
- Temps 55-65 degrees, sunny, no wind, and no bugs!
- One big pile of dead rotting snow on ski slope
- Contemplated taking broken summit sign
- Strange cross-eyed guy on trail
- Used to be a great ski mountain but is past it's prime
- First hike of 2009!

Mount Tecumseh (4,003 feet)

Mount Tecumseh and Waterville Valley Ski Area from North Tripyramid Slide

Mount Tecumseh is located at the Waterville Valley Ski Resort and is a great hike for beginners.  The Mount Tecumseh Trail that leads up to the summit has easy to moderate grades with good footing (2.5 miles, elevation gain of 2,200 feet from ski area trailhead, 3.1 miles, elevation gain of 2,400 feet from Tripoli Road).  The summit is wooded but provides views over to Osceola's and the Tripyramids.  You can also hike the ski trails down to the bottom which makes the hike more enjoyable.
