***It's supposed to read Camp 12, not 11***

Easy three mile stroll over the old East Branch railroad grade (Lincoln Woods Trail)

Heading by Franconia Falls followed by an easy bushwhack along the Fisherman's Path

Hiking a couple of miles on the Lincoln Brook Trail to the base of the slide

Owl's Head Slide

Three points of interest.  One, the cairn on the Lincoln Brook Trail for the Owl's Head Path turnoff (top).  Owl's Head summit cairn (bottom left).  Brutus Rock (bottom right)

I couldn't believe how well defined the Brutus Bushwhack was, easy to follow the whole way.  Six years ago I could barely see a trace during non-winter times

Camp 12 clearing and a few relics

Heading back out over the Lincoln Brook Trail

Some more old RR junk just before the last major water crossing, and then at Camp 9

Camp 9 clearing

Owl's Head from the Camp 9 clearing

I think Flume (left), Owl's Head (right)

East Branch Pemigewasset River

Pine Island Trail

Hiking out along the downed tree grave of an old section of the East Side Trail

  2. Hi Chris .... I enjoyed your TR. You have serious error in ID of RR Camp. Camp you visited is Camp 12. Camp 11 is on other side of Lincoln Brook on south slope of OH. Check out Gove's RR maps in his book on Henry's Pemi RR book. Seeing as how you like to BW you might be interested in tracing the old RR bed that circles around OH. We did it last year and makes for a fine off-trail adventure. BTW I love your reports.... Ray Caron (Jazzbo)

    1. Thanks for the comment. I have the old map and just looked too quickly at it when creating this report that is where the error was made. I've traced parts of that old RR bed before and enjoyed it thoroughly :)
